Toy Story 5 Teaser Sets The Beloved Duo Versus a Digital Device
Exactly 30 anniversary after the first Toy Story film was released, establishing Pixar as a major film company and bringing viewers to iconic characters like Woody (Tom Hanks) and Buzz Lightyear (the voice talent), who are now famous worldwide.
In 2026, the fifth installment is scheduled for release. The initial preview for Toy Story 5 landed recently, providing a glimpse into the plot but keeping viewers wondering how it will address the conclusion of Toy Story 4.
Bonnie's New Toy: A Frog-Shaped Tablet Frightens the Toys
In the teaser shows the young girl — who inherited Andy's toys when he left for college — getting a latest toy, one that terrifies the familiar toy group. Bonnie acquires her initial digital gadget, and she is excited about it.
Presumably, the frog-shaped tablet will animate just like Bonnie's other toys. However, the characters seem to view it as a threat intending to supplant them, which it likely will.
Woody's Return: Unanswered Questions from Toy Story 4
An element the teaser doesn't touch on is what Woody is back with his friends in Bonnie's room. The end of Toy Story 4 saw him embark on a new adventure with Bo Peep (the actress), traveling with a carnival and assisting prize toys find good homes.
Surely, the filmmakers will address the aftermath of Toy Story 4 in the film. Witnessing him show up in Bonnie's room unexpectedly is a little strange, however. It also raises questions whether his partner will have come back with Woody. And what about Duke Caboom (the star)?
Continuity from the Last Installment
Fortunately, some elements are continuing from the prior film. The last thing the cowboy did before departing for his fresh path was pass his symbol of authority to Jessie (the voice actor), entrusting her in charge of the toy domain. In the teaser displays the insignia pinned to her shirt.
It is hoped she is remains the key figure among the toys.
Toy Story 5 arrives in theaters on the scheduled date.
