In a surprising partnership that defies usual forecasts, the game developer has announced an in-game collaboration between Assassin's Creed Shadows and the renowned anime series Attack on Titan. The unusual Thanksgiving event operates from November 25 through December 22, offering no-cost extra story content for Shadows players.

Strange Adventure Revealed

According to the official statement, "A strange confrontation leads protagonists Naoe and Yasuke into a original quest, where whispers of prohibited ceremonies and fearsome changes reverberate through the darkness." The plot features a "oddly attired woman named Ada" who tasks the characters with traveling into the Crystalline Cavern—a significant location from Attack on Titan—to rescue her companion from a clandestine sect.

The questline centers on "bizarre tests and a monstrous enemy" and is open to all players who have unlocked the Yasuke character.

Familiar Settings and Metamorphoses

The preview features the Subterranean Sanctuary from Attack on Titan recreated as the Crystal Cave. This important location was earlier where the Reiss royal family transmitted the Founding Titan ability through ages. The teaser concludes with a striking sequence showing a character, presumably the prisoner, transforming into a Titan that towers over Naoe and Yasuke.

Special Rewards and Additional Features

Players who successfully complete the adventure will acquire an exclusive katana alongside several items secreted throughout the area in concealed chests. The update also contains in-store Attack on Titan item packs, including:

• Titan-based costume for Yasuke
• Mikasa costume for Naoe
• Special arms
• Survey Corps vehicle

Third Free Story Content

This release also adds the game's third free story episode, titled "A Puzzlement." This humorous mission pairs Naoe and Yasuke as they exchange signature skills: Naoe introduces a dramatic version of Yasuke's war kick, while Yasuke acquires subduing stealth takedowns. Faithful to its name, "The Enigma" also includes a original environmental puzzle that may ultimately clarify some lingering questions from the main storyline.

Previous Anime Collaborations

This represents hardly the primary time the Assassin's Creed franchise has partnered with famous anime franchises. The series earlier showcased a 2020 collaborative story connecting Assassin's Creed: Valhalla with Makoto Yukimura's Vinland Saga. Additionally, Valhalla subtly included a quest that unmistakably echoed the popular series One-Punch Man.
